Dual Channel Framework
Psychology has long recognised the effect of “primacy” (the relative position of an item in a serial list or collection of items) in relation to memory recall and attention. In general terms items nearer the beginning of a list are recalled more accurately at a later stage.
Traditional chronological Resumes and CV’s utilise this concept by placing the most important information (usually the most current) near the beginning of each section in the Resume.
In practice, this often means that the more recent “bio-data” elements of the Resume (qualifications, work history, etc) receive prominence. However, there are elements often considered to be “soft” or “warm and fuzzy” that can dramatically increase the power of your Resume. These include items such as career goals, personal values, attributes or profile, which may not be so directly related to specific employment competence.
